camp
In this activity, learners are introduced to micro:bits, small computers that use radio signals for communication. Five hidden transmitter micro:bits emit constant radio signals, and the goal is for learners, equipped with micro:bit receivers, to locate these transmitters. This experience is used to introduce concepts such as radio channels, signals, transmitters, and receivers, fostering a discussion about the impact of distance on radio signal strength. Everyday examples are explored to illustrate these ideas, and learners consider factors beyond distance that can influence signal transmission. The activity includes prompts to facilitate a discussion about the challenges and possibilities of wireless communication, drawing parallels between micro:bit signals and those used by smartphones.
